<p>I am wrapping up the OSX version of the new GUI very soon and the other OSs soon after. I have one question to ask that I believe I know thew answer to but I would like to have your opinions. Sometimes when you are working on something like this certain features might seem to fit or might make sense while developing that don't really do anything for the real end-user. So, I recently decided to make room for more technical features by removing the settings menu page and removing the code and strings section of the chip information screen. It will now show the info as soon as you select the chip and you simply need to click button 2 to test once on that screen.</p>
<p>You will still be able to control everything in the settings from the new GUI app. So, the features will still be there they just won't be hogging up Vetus' display menu. </p>
<p>How does everyone feel about that? My assumption in that no one ever uses anything from the settings more than maybe once or twice and the benefits from doing it this way far exceed whatever downsides there are (if any). I'd love to hear your opinions. </p>

<p>I have five 30 pin SIMM prototype boards that are built and I'm not going to sell because the new version will actually show up as being connected in Vetus Pars. The five I have won't do that. It will only show up as unknown or the like. However, it will still function exactly the same. So if you'd like one you can have one just pay for shipping. It's in mm and was made in blender. I don't know every CAD or 3D software but I assume if you set the scale to millimeters it should be the correct measurements.

I'll be giving all of that info when I release the first board. It's coming soon. This has been a long few months. A lot stuff going on, my wife went to see her parents in Peru for a month and I've been holding down the fort. Kids gone so no yard slaves. Etc. Anyway, they are back now and I can hopefully get more focused. When I release the boards I will have specs for you all so that you can make your own if you desire. </p>]]></content:encoded>

                        <content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I'll go over how it works. Also, I wouldn't leave a floating pin. All unconnected pins should be set to HI-Z. Power is given just like a HI/LO pin. It was easier that way because it doesn't add any new opcodes. Here is how the setup works. </p>
<p>MCU --&gt; shift registers --&gt; 0 or 1 sent to individual level shifter/buffer. So all signals are really buffered through all those little 6 pin components. the STM32 has no control over the voltage. That is all on the 5v supply and the 74LVC1T45s All of the capacitors are there to steady the signal on that side and hopefully stabilize before going through the ribbon cable. So if you leave it floating who knows what you could get out of the buffer. it might be turning off and on thus giving you the fluctuations.</p>
<p>What happens is when you change a pin setting. The unit sends the proper binary pattern through the shift registers to set the pins where you want them. Before doing so it sets all pins to HI-Z then shifts them, that way there is never any chance of a short. That being the case, there are only a few possible culprits. But for sure leaving a pin floating is generally not good for this.</p>]]></content:encoded>
